Senior Product Designer

Amsterdam

Are you ready for a new challenge in the lighting industry?

Light and health are closely related. At Seaborough, we are developing new light-based solutions to improve human health and wellbeing. Are you our new Senior Product Designer who makes our ideas into working prototypes, and helps our clients developing amazing products?

In a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for all product-related projects. You will be up to the challenge of integrating all scientific and technology ideas in a good looking product, from design to execution. While most of your projects will be related to the Life Science program, your expertise and skills could also help the other teams within Seaborough when product related projects arise.

Here is what you will mainly be up to as Senior Product Designer in our Life Science team:

  •   As a core member of the team, you participate in the full process of brainstorming on new ideas and solutions within the scope of the Life Science program, and you lead the process of developing testing models, and making a final design and prototype. Your main responsibility is to translate product requirements into tangible prototypes.
  • You own the prototype development process from start to finish, with hands-on design and engineering when possible, outsourcing when needed, and in contact with all stakeholders.
  • When our prototypes are brought a step further, to an MVP or actual production, you lead this process as well. From planning, to finding the right (production) partners, and making sure the economics (business case) are sound.
  • In the joint development process with partners, you guide the partner’s engineers to make sure that the final product meets the requirements.
  • Your creativity and engineering skills contribute to our commercial successes. You help our marketing and communication activities by providing feedback on and input for new and existing content.
  • As the team is small, collaboration and helping each other is key to achieve our goals on various projects and topics. We share ideas and results, spark creativity, and drill down on fundamental problems.
  • Your work will lead to new intellectual property and manufacturing breakthroughs. You will contribute to intellectual property through technical inventions and patents.

IS IT YOU WE’RE LOOKING FOR?

  •  We are looking for an experienced senior product designer, who is able to own the process of planning, designing, and building prototypes and real products. You have:
  • Hands on experience in a product design role. Would be great if you have design experience in combination with electronics / optics / and/or thermal management.
  • A proven track record of managing several projects in parallel with multiple (external) stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Experience in lighting or consumer electronics is a (big) advantage.
  • Since you will be part of an interdisciplinary and multicultural team that works on ground breaking innovations, a curious and flexible mindset is a must.

What we offer?

  • A dynamic and young organization full of ambition to make the world a better place.
  • Relaxed working culture: If work can be done from home, then we encourage that. We value good coffee, have regular fun activities, and use our ping-pong table a lot.

  • Personal growth and development: We will support you with coaching and training designed to help you develop your skills.
  • Reward: competitive salary, a great pension plan, electric bike plan, market conform additional benefits, and above all that, a short-term and long-term incentive to share in the success of our company.
