Scientist Life Science Team

Amsterdam

Are you ready for a new challenge in a dynamic tech environment?

Light and health are closely related. At Seaborough, we are developing new light-based solutions to improve human health and wellbeing.

Are you our new Scientist?

As a scientist in the Life Sciences team, you will work on the scientific fundament of our technology SunLED and ensure a strong patent portfolio. The science behind our existing and future technologies is key to our success! In the multidisciplinary Life Science team, you will lead the technology roadmap, oversee the ongoing research projects and initiate new ones, strengthen our existing patent portfolio, and help to translate scientific insights into a compelling story for non-scientists.

Here is what you will mainly be up to as Scientist in our Life Science team:

  •  Lead scientific research projects that we execute in collaboration with universities and research institutes, to learn how red and near-infrared light affect human health and wellbeing. Of course, you stay up to date with developments and literature in the field. Your network or networking activities will lead to new research collaboration opportunities.
  • Translate scientific insights into technology and patentable ideas. You develop deep knowledge about the patent landscape and you are able to identify promising areas for new patent applications.
  • Support marketing activities by translating scientific insights (both from our own research and literature) into a compelling story for our clients and end-users.
  • As the team is small, collaboration and helping each other is key to achieve our goals on various projects and topics. We share ideas and results, spark creativity, and drill down on fundamental problems.

Is it you we’re looking for?

We are looking for a Scientist, who is able to fulfill the tasks described above. You have:

  • A PhD or 5 years+ experience in scientific research in the field of biology and light, e.g. biophysics, biophotonics, light and health, chronobiology, etc.
  •  A track record in writing scientific publications and presenting your work to a professional audience. Experience in outreach or non-scientific communication activities is a plus.
  •  Commercial awareness: you understand that the inventions you work on should drive value for the company, whose core business is creating IP which can be offered to customers via license contracts.
  • Since you will be part of an interdisciplinary and multicultural team that works on ground breaking innovations, a curious and flexible mindset is a must.

What we offer

  •  Working in a dynamic and young organization full of ambition to make the world a better place.
  • Relaxed working culture: we value good coffee and have regular fun activities.
  • Multicultural environment: we are a team of more than 20 people and have our roots in more than 10 countries.
  • Personal growth and development: we will support you with coaching and training designed to help you develop your skills.
  • Reward: competitive salary, a great pension plan, market conform additional benefits, and a short-term and long-term incentive to share in the success of our company.
  • Good location: our light and spacious office building (incl. labs) is located at the Amsterdam Science Park.
  • Connectivity: the Amsterdam Science Park is well connected by public transport. It is a 5-minute walk to the nearest train station
